Via CTI to GCP
This year at COP in Brazil, the Global Circularity Protocol (GCP) will be launched. A global standard for measuring, reporting, and managing circularity performance. Think of it as the Greenhouse Gas Protocol for the circular economy. Over 80 global leaders have already committed to adopting it ahead of its launch.
When the GCP rolls out, it will redefine how businesses approach circularity. Just like the GHG Protocol became the benchmark for carbon accounting, the GCP aims to establish itself as the benchmark for circular economy measurement and reporting.

The GCP is built on robust frameworks, with the Circular Transition Indicators (CTI) at its core. Developed by WBCSD in collaboration with over 30 major companies.
According to the GCP’s own landscape analysis, the CTI is one of the three circularity-specific frameworks (alongside ISO 59020 and ESRS E5) that form the backbone of the measurement standards used by businesses globally.

The Circular Transitions Indicators (CTI) framework was developed by WBCSD and 30 of its members. CTI helps companies measure and improve their sustainability performance by providing a simple and sector-agnostic way to measure circularity and giving insights into how to reduce primary resource use and waste generation. Circular IQ’s CTI Tool is the WBCSD endorsed software tool for effectively measuring CTI and leveraging these insights.
